It’s time for the seasonal closet switch. Black Friday is coming. The holidays will be here before you know it.
I have a new job and I need to organize myself so I can grab the clothes and go. I’m also a mom with about 30 seconds to get ready in the morning. I want to rely on what I already have, and only buy new things thoughtfully. For the planet, for my wallet and also because I’ve realized (in a Pinterest black hole), that I still like the exact same clothes I’ve loved for years.
This summer was all about color. Bright suits and bohemian dresses. But now that it’s cozy season, I want to bust out my favorite classics. It’s anything goes now that the world has changed. We work from home more than ever, and the world has gone casual. I’m here for it.
I’ve put together a list of everything I love most. Let’s call it a capsule closet – that incorporates trends (minimalism, 70’s skater, 90’s grunge, French Girl), vintage and oversized classics.

Here is Carrie Bradshaw incorporating the statement hat, dress, booties and plaid. Layered and oversized.
Moral of the story? Have fun. Do you.
P.S. I love this stylist. She combines the latest trends with vintage.
What will you bust out? What do you actually need to buy?
Ways to save: Consider vintage. Host a party and swap clothes with friends. Hire someone to help you style what you have. Wait a day before you press PURCHASE. Mix up what you already have. Add a blazer to a summer dress. Wear a vintage blouse with overalls. You get the idea…or hop on Pinterest and get inspired to play with the clothes you already own. Fall in love what you have and then decide what you are missing. If you need help, contact me.
