Looking for ideas for Mother’s Day? Here is my guide of gifts made by the women inspiring me right now, for every mom, no matter what she loves.
The Art Collector – These pastel floral prints by artist Emeline Villedary made in collaboration with BABA Souk are simple and gorgeous. Bonus: 5$ per print goes to charity! If this artist would cool her jets, that would be much better for my bank account. Purchase the prints here before they sell out!
The Foodie – Mouna quit her corporate job to make her dream of owning a jam shop come true. She cooks up new flavors every day and they are made of 70% fruit! My personal favorite is the pear vanilla. She also offers scones, toast, and tea time in her adorable Juliette Binoche “Chocolat meets Jam” style shop. Visit her Facebook page here. Her shop address is 4348, rue Clark where you can taste before purchasing, and your kids can color on the wall of the child-sized kitchen. It’s like stepping inside a macaron it’s so charming!
The Mermaid – Sunni Spencer was a buyer for Bergdorf Goodman before she opened her fantasy “All beach lifestyle, all the time” boutique on Bleeker street in Manhattan this past March. You will want to buy everything, be warned. From an array of kaftans, to shell shaped clutches, and handmade beach bags, you can find the most popular pieces from her Bleeker street paradise here. I had to buy this grapefruit candle because the smell of the shop was so intoxicating. Sunni lives up to her name and radiates joy. I adore this woman.
The Gardener – This book will tell you everything you need to know about cut flowers and how to create the most magical bouquets. The photos by Julia C. Vona are so beautiful, you need to flip through it, even if you lack the DIY desire. My bet is your resistance will crumble by the last page. I showed the book to a friend today and she literally gasped. Buy it in french here. You can also schedule a workshop with Carmel if you want to learn from this passionate flower whisperer up close, and get inspiration for stunning bouquets here. I urge you to visit her atelier if you decide on flowers for mom or have a wedding to plan.
The Fashionista – This book by Inès de La Fressange is so useful you may need two copies, one for mom and one for yourself. Not only is the list of what you need for the perfect Parisian wardrobe essential, but the “how to” put together the many combinations is a joy to read thanks to her cheeky sense of humor. A read with a glass of wine is quick, and inspirational. Grab it here.
The Book Lover – For a relaxing read about a Manhattan decorator who travels the world with her wealthy clients, this fun escape with a glass of rosé will make her day. A summer hat and bathing suit are not required, but you may also want a copy for your own vacation. Just saying. Find it here.
What will you be doing this Mother’s Day?
xx
