My obsession this week is summer planning…dreaming really…
This will be the year I put budget aside to make my backyard magical!
For some on-line inspiration, I started with with Klimt, Monet and Renoir, the masters of light and color…
…because my favorite backyards are colorful, wild and have new flowers coming up to surprise us every few weeks from May until September.
Or they are all wood with punchy pillows and greenery
Or perhaps ALL POOL BABY!
Maybe spacious with incredible views…
Or standing room only…
Or just built for two…
It may look like a tea cup…
Or be rustic French country…
Tropical…
Coastal…
A secret…
It may be eclectic indoor/outdoor…
It may have a hammock…
Or a bed…
A tent…
Or even a cinema…
No matter what, I believe that fairy lights are essential for magical summer nights…
and hanging lanterns…
And cold drinks…
…And sparklers
To be honest, I have never met a backyard on a summer night or day that I didn’t like. With a glass in my hand, friends cracking jokes and kids splashing about…I’d say it’s perfection!

Ahhhh and off dreaming I go! Especially with the rain tonight, I dream of nice, long, warm summer evenings outside, with days that feel like they just gained another half! Part of the pleasure is planning for this nice season that will come (I promise!) and thinking about how to make our indoors and outdoors feel like home, whatever home is for each of us, and welcoming friends and family to join us!

Garden sculpture, plants décor, lights, bird bath… Make up my wish List for my upcoming 40th.
I really, REALLY want to plant some flowering trees, like lilac and magnolia in our backyard. And definitely want to have lots of BBQs! …Summertime and the livin’ is easy!

I agree a nice summer night with wine and friends is great. I’ve had my piazza lights in box for more than a year and they may have to stay there for another one until the yard is finished but my front will look fabulous.
